The program includes rehabilitating an abandoned water well and installing a solar pump and gravity-fed garden irrigation system to provide access to clean, abundant, and affordable water for the village. We will also provide hands-on training for community members in sustainable agriculture strategies, poultry production, clay-sand improved cookstove construction, and in the development of community savings and lending procedures. We anticipate this will be the first of several similar projects in cooperation with CREATE!, which has spent the last twelve years successfully developing and refining its community partnership and training model with 18 rural Senegalese villages.
