Kim McKoy, Executive Director Path from Poverty (PFP) partners with women's groups in rural Kenya, helping them launch small businesses in line with regional market demand. Via Savings Groups, women pool funds to purchase either 10,000-liter rainwater catchment tanks or solar panel packs for sustainable energy.
Early in the year, via a Rotary District 5030 Matching Grant, Seattle NE Rotary and Lake Union Rotary provided funds that yielded a $6000 grant. A Paramount Theater-Fiddler on the Roof Ticket Raffle raised another $1,700. These funds support the purchase of up to 6 rainwater catchment tanks. These tanks were installed at various homes so that women have access to clean water and no longer have to walk miles for it, giving them more time for raising produce or creating items for sale. Besides an update on the Grant, we will hear about Kim's Poulsbo Rotary Club’s PFP activities and the Harambee fundraising event Oct 17 (https://givebutter.com/harambee2020).
